To Ride Pegasus by Anne McCaffrey, reviewed by Megan

To Ride Pegasus is the first in a series of a few books, and is a great book that merges sci-fi and realism. There are real life situations, such as political problems, trials, etc. There are also sci-fi things such as EEGs that are machines that can detect brain waves and paraphysical activity. The Center is a place where certain people train, take care of, and discover Talents (people who are telekinetics, precogs, etc.). There are different characters that are in the book, but each of them have stories that are sort of in their own different sections.

The one character that is in all of the stories is Daffyd op Owen, the manager of the Center. He is a receiving and broadcasting telepath and a latent teleporter (someone who can teleport, but only in certain conditons). Amalda's story is my favorite. Amalda is a strong broadcasting empath (someone who can broadcast emotions ) and a receiving telepath (someone who receives thought messages from other telepaths ). Their stories connect because op Owen ends up helping Amalda train her skills, and she ends up becoming part of the Center's staff.

I loved this book for many reasons. One reason is that I just couldn't stand to put it down for even a day because it was so good. Another reason is that people are appreciated for their uniqueness and different abilities instead of being thought of as outcasts or freaks by a lot of people, which is something that you just don't see very often.

I would definitely reccomend this book to people, but I have to warn you that there are some more mature themes and situations.
