Eleven by Patricia Reilly Griff: Reviewed by Jennifer K.

Eleven by Patricia Reilly Griff is a fiction book about a ten year old boy named Sam Mackenzie who lives with his grandfather Mack. The story takes place in upper state New York in a small town near the Canadian border. While snooping around in the attic searching for his up coming eleventh birthday presents he finds a picture of him self as a young child with the word missing under it. Could Mack not be his real grandfather but a kidnapper? With the help of Caroline, the new girl at school, Sam sets off to find the truth about his past. In the process he finds a best friend, the truth about himself, the truth about family, and the strength to over come one of his life's greatest struggles. In this book Sam thinks that Mack is not his real grandfather but thinks he really is an unknown kidnapper. To find out the truth of Mack and Sam's relations in the past, Sam and Caroline sneak back in to the attic to look at the contents of the mysteries locked trunk. They follow the clues and in the end, Sam and Caroline find out the truth between Mack and Sam's relationship. Was Sam kidnapped by Mack or are Sam and Mack really related. Read the book and find out. I loved this book because it kept my attention drawn and my curiosity peaked. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery.
