Al Capone Shines My Shoes by Gennifer Choldenko is a realistic fiction novel that takes place on Alcatraz Island. It is the sequel to Al Capone Does My Shirts. Twelve year old Moose is still living with his mom and dad. He is also still just across the island from Al Capone, Seven Fingers, Buddy Boy, Willy One Arm, Machine Gun Kelly, and 273 other of America's worst criminals. However, Moose's sister, Natalie is no longer on the island. She is at a special school called the Ester P. Marinoff School because she has autism, thanks to some help from Moose's laundry man, Al Capone. Life is anything but normal for Moose. Al Capone asked him to get roses for his wife, Annie (one of the kids on the island) wants Moose to confess a secret so big it can get Moose kicked off the island, and all of Moose's friends are mad at him. When all the adults on the island are at a party at the Warden's house, Moose and the other kids get into some really big trouble with some of the criminals.
I liked Al Capone Shines My Shoes and I would recommend reading it. I feel that way because it is a good book with a lot of action and a good plot. Also, novels are my type of book. In conclusion, Al Capone Shines My Shoes is a good book which you REALLY SHOULD READ!
