Smiles to Go by Jerry Spinelli: Review by Jackson

Hi Everybody, I just finished the book “Smiles to Go” by Jerry Spinelli. This is about a senior in high school named Will Tuppence. After scientists found that a proton was dead in Yellowknife (a science lab), Will counts the days after the proton died. During these days, many wacky things happen. One of these things was that Will’s best friends Mi-Su and B.T. kissed. Will has only one problem with this…he likes Mi-Su. During this time, Will tries to come up with a plan to get Mi-Su to like him. After Will’s little sister Tabby, who is in first grade is seriously injured, Will starts to wonder if B.T. and Mi-Su are really dating. Will Will and Mi-Su date? Will they just be friends like before or will they hate each other? Read this exciting, realistic fiction book to find out.

In my opinion this is a great book. You never know what’s going to happen next and you’re probably never going to want to put the book down. Throughout the book, Will is an interesting, curious character who is always looking to find answers. Will also changes a lot. In the beginning, he didn’t like his sister because she was constantly annoying him, but when she was hurt he started to think about different sides of her and he realized things he didn’t before about their relationship with each other. He also realized his relationship with his friends and how much they really care about him in a good or bad way. In all, I highly suggest this book to anyone looking for a realistic fiction book or just a good book in general. See you later.
