The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton: Review by Tommy W.

The Outsiders

This book is called the The Outsiders. It is by S.E Hinton. The main character in the story is a boy named Ponyboy. After the death of his parents, he was forced to live in a foster home. Unfortunately, he did not like it there, so he ran away. He then joined a gang named the "Greasers". It was made up of him, Johnny,Steve, Soda, Darry and Two-bit. They go through extremely rough times. They go up against challenges they never thought would come. They go up against their arch-rival gang, the "Socs". The Socs are mean and rich kids who live on the West side of town. Soon they get together, gang on gang, and have a brutal, massive fight which follows some things they will never forget.

As Isai before Ponyboy was a fosterchild. At least that was until he ran away to join the gang that his older brother was in. Ponyboy being the youngest in the gang does not stop him from doing anything. He is brave, imaginative, and open-minded. Although he is not smart in school, he is smart on the street. He is usually a good kid, but he is always willing to take a risk.

I have to say that this book was the best book that I have ever read in my life. This book has so much adventure and action that it is almost impossible to stop reading it. I recommend this book mostly to boys. I think that girls would be a little shocked by what happens and some of the events that happen, but if you wanted to I don't see it being a problem. If I were to rate this book in a movie it would probably be a pg-13, mostly because of the violence. If anyone is struggling to find a good book I think that you should definetly read this book.
