Swindle by Gordan Korman: Review by Chloe M.

Review by Chloe M.

One of the best books that I have ever read is the book Swindle, by Gordan Korman. This fantastic story is about six 6th graders, and one of them includes Griffin Bing, A.K.A. "The Man with the Plan". Griffin Bing is the main character in this story, and he is also the ringleader. It all starts when Griffin and his best friend, Ben, camp out in the abandoned Rockford house, which is going to be destroyed the next day. Griffin had invited a bunch of his classmates to come, but almost all of them had not gone, except for Ben. While they are camped out in the Rockford house,
Griffin discovers in a desk drawer a Babe Ruth card. The next day he and Ben go to the local Pawn Shop to see how much the card is worth. The man there, S. Wendell Palomino (later nicknamed Swindle) says that the card is only worth about a hundred dollars and that the card is a cheap knock-off. Swindle makes an offer to buy the card from Griffin, and Griffin agrees, only getting $100 for a $1,000,000 card. Griffin later realizes that S. Wendell 'Swindled' him out of the card when he sees Swindle on an interview on T.V. for finding a million dollar card.

Griffin (The Man with the Plan) decides that he wants the card back, so he makes a plan to steal the card back from Swindle. The Problem? Griffin is a young 6th grader and Swindle is a full grown man with a high-tech security system, and a huge Doberman guard dog that seems impossible to get by. Trying to avoid these obstacles, Griffin puts together a team of 6th graders that are ready to take on the challenge. Will Griffin's plan work? Will Griffin ever get the Million Dollar card back? What will happen to Swindle? Read the book Swindle to find out what happens!
