The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolken

For my blog post, I read The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolken. It is about a small type of human called a Hobbit. This particular Hobbit is named Bilbo Baggins. He lives in a small town called The Shire. One day while Bilbo is eating breakfast, he hears a knock at the door. When he opens the door, he meets someone he does not expect. He meets Gandalf the Grey. Bilbo has heard about Gandalf, but he has never met him before. But instead of just Gandalf, 13 dwarfs come in after him. They have come to Bilbo because they need a thief. They need a thief to steal gold and jewels from a dragon named Smaug. Gandalf and the dwarfs want to steal from Smaug because he killed the head dwarf's, Thorin Oakshield, father and grandfather. He also stole all of the dwarf city's treasure. Now, let's go forward. On their journey, Bilbo, Gandalf, and the dwarfs get captured by goblins. But Gandalf is nowhere to be found. He abandoned them. But, for his own reasons, he rescued them. But as they were running away, Bilbo falls down a hole. In that hole, he meets Golem. Who is a demented Hobbit whose mind is twisted by the one ring. A ring that can make a man invisible. Except in sunlight. Bilbo finds a way out by using the ring to conceal him. After he escapes and finds the crew, they travel on to Smaug's lair. Bilbo explores in the cave and finds the gold. But Smaug sees Bilbo while he is in there. Outraged, he flies out of the cave and terrorizes a floating town called Lake Town. A man there named Bard sees Smaug coming and shoots his luck black arrow. While Bolbo is exploring in the cave, he finds a weak-point in Smaug. Bard strikes the weak-point and Smaug falls into the river, dead. That is the summary to The Hobbit.

  1. Nice review! I found this book extremely good, despite some completely irrelevant parts, although some of the were quite funny. I loved this book and reccomend it to anyone who likes adventures that involve many strange creatures.

  6. Great review Sam. I first read Alex's post about the Lord of the Rings and he mentioned the prequel the hobbit. So since i really like the Lord of the Rings movies I decided to read the book because the movie left some parts out. So i also thought about reading the prequel and now since it seem like a very good book i am definitely going to read it.
